Description

Turn a photograph into a piece of cut-steel art. We create custom metal portraits from photos of dogs, other pets, people, and vehicles. The image is reworked into a design that can be cut from steel and powder coated, not printed onto a metal sheet.

From the original photo to a metal design

The subject's outline, expression, and recognizable features guide the artwork. Some detail must be simplified so the design remains connected and can be cut cleanly at the chosen size. Single-layer or layered construction may be appropriate depending on the image, style, and color direction.

  • Dog and pet portraits, including custom Dogs on the Moon layouts.
  • People portraits, family keepsakes, and remembrance artwork.
  • Cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other vehicle-based pieces.
  • Portrait designs for wall art, display pieces, or a garden stake where suitable.

Choosing a useful photo

Send a clear, high-resolution image with visible features and a strong outline. Good lighting, an unobstructed face or profile, and one main subject usually make the idea easier to assess. Multiple-subject layouts can be reviewed individually. Additional photos can help explain details, but every image needs a suitability for metal cutting review before the design is confirmed.

Have a specific powder coat color in mind? Include its name or a reference with your request so we can check availability.

Use the contact form for the subject, wording, approximate dimensions, display format, finishes, and deadline. Email the original photos to info@elitemetalworking.com. We review the image, quote the project, and provide a proof for approval before cutting. Made and powder coated in Maryland; ships nationwide.

Custom design & colors

A $100 deposit begins custom design and is applied toward your order balance. A design proof is sent for approval before production.

Website colors are included. Custom-order colors not listed on our website cost extra.

For new designs we choose to add to our standard product range, we may waive the custom design fee and offer standard product pricing. We confirm whether this applies when reviewing your project.

A few things to know

What kind of photo should I send?

Send the original, highest-resolution photo you have, with good lighting, visible features and a clear outline. Extra angles can help. We simplify small details where needed so the steel stays connected and cuts cleanly.

Can I choose colors, layers and wording?

Yes. We can discuss names, dates, a message, single-layer or layered construction, and powder coat colors. We also plan how the piece will hang, stand or mount. For a hitch cover, include your receiver size.
